I have come to the conclusion that I am a ‘Reluctant Artist’.
I am an artist, in as much as I feel driven to illustrate the things that interest and/or inspire me; it is what I do best and enjoy the most. Although I have exhibited in UK, Spain and France, selling limited edition prints, I can’t say that I feel driven to promote myself or what I do. I think it may be a case of Imposter Syndrome because paradoxically, I do want you to know me better!

Once upon a time, many, many tears ago after training at Maidstone College of Art, specialising in Fashion Illustration, life changing circumstances prompted me to change my name and take up the pencil & brush again.
Depending on the atmosphere and the mood of the subject I may use acrylic paints or maybe less often watercolours. I like to use fine line inks for drawing and I use pastels for portraits as they are thrillingly suitable for blending which renders them ideal for subtle personal features of a face. All preparation is done in pencil.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, I am into digital technology, which I have a passion for currently. With it’s layered blend of technology, technical ability, mental gymnastics and seemingly bizarrely, sincerity, it gives me the opportunity to make & use my own range of colours from the gems of the landscape: the rocks, the flowers, the grasses and the reptiles to give a unique image.

For many years I was the Marketing Director for a major Display company. Based in the UK, I was responsible for the promotion of the 400 and something products to the UK, the rest of Europe and anywhere else for that matter. Product design and writing monthly magazine features on the subject were included.

Thus, this accumulated experience is, in part, the reason for my belief in making a product - in this case art - easily available. The images you see on this site vary considerably, some are very early works and some are unfinished but there are also many of my illustrations that I print on Archival Quality Art Paper.

I love the anonymity of travel; the soaking up of atmospheres, the history in the ground and the feeling of ‘being at one’ with a place which allows the mind to wonder and wander. Though I do feel a special pull to the south east corner of Spain where in the Cabo de Gata, even though it's officially classified as semi-desert, the light is almost luminous, the flower hues are dazzling and the huge and open sky such an intense and constant cyan that it's almost unbelievable. I was drawn here, no two ways about it, as many have been before.
